First few days at nursery

Photobucket
This week saw Mummy going back to work and Oliver starting at nursery. He was there for three afternoons on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The first day I left him I did cry (in the car and at work!) but since then I have been OK. It really helps to know that he is enjoying himself making new friends and having a great playtime! He has napped well there and eaten food with no problems so sounds like he is settling in well.

It was swimming again today and he still loves it. He got to wear his super cute new swimming shorts with an octopus on the bum :-)

Other than that, no major news to report. Except to say that Oliver hates parsnip - we got that straight back at us the other day!!!

Weaning fun!

Photobucket

Hi everyone! On Sunday I started weaning Oliver and so far everything has gone well. He had plain baby rice for two days, carrot for two days and today he had pear mixed with baby rice. He seemed to quite like all of that despite the perplexed look on his face with the first mouthful! I have to be sure to keep a smile on my face and say how yummy it all is then he seems to agree :-)

On Monday I met up with some ladies and babies from the Babycentre website. I have used this website ever since I became pregnant and it's a great place for advice and just general chatting. It was lovely to finally meet some of the others who use it.

On Tuesday we went to the nursery for an hour so Oliver could do his first settling in session with me there. That went well and he is going back tomorrow for a couple of hours and I am going to get my hair cut! I am dreading it - but not half as much as I am dreading going back to work next week - sob :-((

An exciting weekend

Photobucket

Hello everyone! Well, as the title suggests it has been quite an exciting weekend in the life of little Oliver. Yesterday he went to his first swimming lesson! It was his first time in a pool and he seemed to really love it. As soon as he got in he was kicking his legs and smiling. I was so relieved as I didn't know how it would go, despite the fact he loves his baths. We are now looking forward to the next class!

Today I gave Oliver some baby rice for the first time since we tried before Christmas. He has been having a lot of milk lately and crying pretty much as soon as the bottle was empty so I thought it was time to give it a go again. Well, he had 3/4 of his milk then 4 small spoons of rice and finished his bottle!! He was quite smiley during it as well so I think it went better than before. I am prepared for the full weaning process and have begun pureeing fruit and veg for him (we have carrot and pear so far!). Let's just say he was completely exhausted at bed time tonight!!

Jon went off to Argentina yesterday and called this afternoon to say he had arrived safely (into the lovely warm weather as opposed to the nasty cold windy rubbish we have - boo!!!!). I put the phone to Oliver's ear so Jon could say hi and Oliver grabbed the phone and started licking it!! Anyway, he had twisted his body round to lick the phone and ended up doing a full roll from his back to his belly!! This was the first time he had rolled completely over so we were both very excited!!

Apart from all that, Oliver is now a big chatterbox. He spends most of his day squealing in delight at something which is just lovely to hear. He isn't upset very often and when he is it's normally solved quite easily (Calpol did the trick last night - teeth I think!!). So, at the moment it looks like we're in for a very chatty little boy who loves swimming - could be worse!!!

Oliver's Christmas!

Hello everyone and welcome to Oliver's new blog!! Well, we made it back from Minneapolis on Sunday after having a fab couple of weeks in the snow. Yes - it snowed!! And not just a little bit either. I think someone said it was the snowiest Christmas since 1950 so I got what I wished for. Now I am wishing hard for it to stop so I don’t annoy my friends and family anymore! Oliver wasn’t sure what to make of it when being rushed from the house to the car or back again (it was just a little too cold at -13 for him to be out there too long!).

Oliver had a great time meeting his family and he was spoiled with lots of cuddles, playtime and presents. He was a very good boy on both flights as well and only took a few days to settle back into his old routine when we got to the US. On the flight back he slept for pretty much all of it and slept through the night last night (apart from waking up for food at 9pm). He is also teething so he’s done really well if you think about it.

Oliver looked very cute in his first Christmas outfits from Nanna & Funny Michael and also from Uncle Jason. Anyway, I have loads of photos so I will put some on for you all to see. Have a very happy New Year everyone!!
