8 months old and on the move!!

Emily turned 8 months old at the weekend and pretty much started crawling properly the same day. She has been close for a while but now she is all over the place and just loves getting into all of Oliver's toys!! Her favourite thing to do is break apart his train track which doesn't go down too well :) She is very proud of herself of course and now we have to have eyes everywhere!! And we have to follow her around with a muslin cloth. She still pukes - A LOT - and you never know when or where you are going to find it. Safe to say we will be needing new carpets in this house when she's all done with that.

We had our first decent snowstorm the weekend before last. Oliver's face was a picture when I opened his blind and he looked outside!! He was so excited and the association between snow and Christmas is quite amazing :) He went outside and played in the snow with Daddy while I took Emily swimming and had a blast! Since then we have had freezing rain and more snow is coming tomorrow I think. And it's very, very cold!!

Speaking of Christmas, we now can't go into any shops without looking at all the Christmas things - two or maybe three times. Oliver is fascinated by all the lights! And of course there is lots of talk about Santa and how he expects all the children to be good :)

This weekend is Thanksgiving and Grandma Colleen is coming to visit. Hopefully the expected snow doesn't cause her any delays. I think Oliver is excited to make a trip to the airport to meet her :)

Still at the practising stage of crawling!

"Go outside Mummy???". Ha ha!! Oliver loves to play outside in the snow - his favourite thing by far at school

Driving up our road during the snowstorm

And coming up to our house

Yeah, I can stand (with help) - so what??!!

Butter wouldn't melt in Little Miss Crabby's mouth :)

Posing together - this is a good time as both of them like having their pictures taken!!

Bath time!

Don't think I'm cruel and make Emily sleep in just her nappy - I had just taken her PJs off to throw in the washing machine and I thought she looked all chubby and cute ;)

Our handsome boy

Oliver likes to go crawling with Emily!

Talking (well, sort of!)

Yes, Emily has decided that it is high time her voice is heard in this household!! At lunchtime on Saturday she just started to properly babble and clearly said Dada while looking at Jon! I am still working on Mama - if I say it to her she just looks at me and grins :) At least she knows who I am!! She also decided that sitting down is pretty boring - she pulled herself up to standing in the car at the playground (see the pics below). So it has been a week of development for the little lady!!

Niki is over here from the UK for work at the moment and she spent the weekend with us. Oliver just loved having someone else to play cars with - especially when that someone brings him a new bus and a taxi to play with!! Sadly I don't have any pictures of her with the kids - I think they were all too busy having fun!

I have started working part time at Target - just evenings and weekends - so everyone is getting used to me going out to work now!! So far, so good. The job is only seasonal for the time being - we'll see if it turns into anything more permanent after Christmas.

While Oliver is napping, Emily will wreck his kitchen ;)

Oliver being a silly billy!

Playing doctors

Ha ha!!! Emily will also chew on Oliver's robot!

Sitting in the car nicely......

But look what I can do Mummy!!

I am so cool :)))

Women drivers ;)

Oliver is smiling for us here - yes, really.

Awwwww, rubbing his sister's head while watching some afternoon TV :))

Does Oliver look really guilty or what??!!! Ha! This morning he decided to take all the ice cube containers out of the cupboard - Emily loved it!!

Halloween

This year Oliver wanted to dress up as Scooby Doo - obviously the most expensive costume out there!! Anyway, we waited until they were on sale and picked one up for him. Then, of course, he was a bit reluctant to wear it but with a little persuasion (and the fact his sister was dressed up too) he put it on. He wore it to a halloween party on Friday and then again last night to go trick or treating. He did very well at saying "trick or treat" but he was quite scared of the kids wearing masks and any scary decorations - quite understandable with some of them! But he came back with a whole bunch of candy which will no doubt last the entire year. I ended up throwing away some of last year's because it just got forgotten about!! Emily didn't go trick or treating but she had two different costumes to wear - a monster and a butterfly. Very cute!

Not too much else to report. Emily is still working on the whole crawling thing and is obviously still trying to sprout more teeth as she has rosy cheeks continually. With any luck both things will happen sooner rather than later as she is getting so frustrated!!

Here is the latest bunch of pics and videos!
